USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for a ITSPEC (INFOSEC) in the Agricultural Research Service, Cyber Security Branch, Technical Resources & Control Section. (Remote)

 

Duties:   

  • Work closely with the Research Leader management team and provides leadership in the needs assessment, evaluation, procurement, and implementation of hardware, software, and cloud solutions; and engages with researchers on all IT-related activities.
  • Serve as the liaison between ARS and IT services from partnering organizations (including collaborators such as university personnel, nonprofits, etc.) and/or IT hardware and software vendors.
  • Work in collaboration with the Research Leader and scientists as an IT technical participant in the multi-scientific research-related initiatives, including the development and implementation of the long-range plans
  • Perform activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.

 

Experience:

GS-07: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is: partnering with research units to develop supplemental guidance and manuals, documenting IT components of research products; and participating in the evaluation and validation of the Location's IT requirements and, following approval, oversees equipment repairs, modifications, service and purchase.

GS-09: Qualifying experience for GS-09 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is: preparing reports (in graphic and tabular format), briefings and training materials, memoranda, and letters in support of the IT activities; and providing training to program and technical staff on workstation operating systems and applications; IT security policies and procedures; and IT system operations.

GS-11: Qualifying experience for GS-11 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-09 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is: providing support to users in a wide array of Microsoft products including MS Outlook, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and telecommunication software such as virtual platforms; issuing guidance and training to program and technical staff on workstation operating systems and applications; IT security policies and procedures; and IT system operations.
