Facility Coordinator

POSITION GOAL: To maintain the building in a properly operating and safe condition.  To have the total school building and grounds as clean as possible and to maintain a high degree of safety so that full educational use of the building is possible to meet the educational programs of students.

                                     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To personally perform, as need dictates, custodial/maintenance tasks.
  • To arrange for the daily opening of the building, ensuring that all exit doors are open, and all panic bolts are working properly to provide emergency and safe exit of students and staff in the event of an emergency and to provide for any necessary daily checks of operating equipment at appropriate times.
  • To provide all information promptly in emergency situations including equipment failure, fires, hazardous conditions, illegal entry, suspicious situations, etc. to the Building Principal, Supervisor of custodial and/or the Director of Operations.
  • Provide budgeting information for the school operation, Capital and one time list each year, as well as writing and closing purchase orders.
  • Order supplies and keep inventory at an appropriate level.
  • Inspect assigned custodial areas as often as possible to assure clean and safe buildings and grounds.
  • Supervise all custodial employees to include summer cleaning and summer helpers.
  • Schedule, coordinate, evaluate, and oversee the work of custodial personnel assigned to the building. Be available to provide assistance or schedule coverage at activities scheduled beyond regular hours when required.
  • Establish and oversee department approved preventative maintenance procedures and to provide the Operations Department with accurate, legible, current records of same.
  • Personally, operate and monitor (or assign) heating, cooling, ventilating, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and water treatment systems, including pool operations.
  • Provide for removal of snow and ice in a planned manner in those areas not cleared by the maintenance department so that classes and related school activities can take place as scheduled.
  • Provide for custodial-type security.
  • Provide for the requisition, reception, transport, storage, and inventory control of custodial/maintenance equipment, parts, materials, supplies, and tools.
  • On a weekly basis, test emergency generator and/or lighting systems to assure their proper operation when needed. Assist the Principal in monthly fire drills and required safety inspections keeping a written log of these items.
  • Supervise and/or complete building and ground repairs of minor nature: i.e., open drains, repair furniture, replace ceiling and floor tile, lubrication of air handlers and uninvents, and replace belts.
  • Institutes repair work orders to maintenance department covering those repair items beyond the scope of custodian maintenance and assists, or directs assistance, for the maintenance department if requested.
  • Prepare athletic fields for interscholastic competition as directed by the principal and/or Athletic Department, as necessary. 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Perform any job that is necessary to facilitate the use of building, grounds, and/or equipment for the general welfare of the district and its students.
  • Assist the Principal with the requisition of school supplies and equipment.

Requirement:

Pool operator license (Applicants without this license must attend and complete the required class for certification.)
