Public Health Representative 2, EMS

The duties include the provision of consultation, review and oversight of prehospital operational activities. Conduct
comprehensive complaint investigations and prepare reports with conclusions and recommendations. Evaluate clinical
care practices of basic and advanced life support, specialty care, and air medical services for changes and
improvements. Prepare written reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Support the
enforcement actions taken by the Office of the Attorney General on the Department's behalf. Schedule and conduct field
site visits of both agencies and vehicles for regulatory compliance. Audit the records of prehospital agency staff to
ensure the provision of quality clinical care and the competency of staff.

***Preference will be given to candidates who are currently certified as a paramedic by either the NJ Department of
Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or will be eligible for and obtain such within six
months from the date of appointment. EMT-Instructor certification a plus.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

Six (6) years of experience as a paramedic or registered nurse in a mobile intensive care program providing advanced life support services.

OR

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.

NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.

LICENSE:

Certification as Emergency Medical Technician by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services.

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in NJ only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
