Job Description And Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one permanent, full-time, Office Technician (Typing) position within the Division of Corporations and Financial Institutions, Escrow and Mortgage Lending Office, Escrow Law Licensing unit. Position to be located in the Los Angeles office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the general direction of the Escrow Licensing Special Administrator, the Office Technician (Typing) will function as the custodian of records for information obtained from DOJ and FBI based on live scan and fingerprint card processing and distributes all fingerprint clearances for various programs. The incumbent will follow the escrow program's policies and procedures reviewing employment application filings for completeness and process mailing of deficiency letters. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of the Financial Code as it pertains to these filings. Also, the incumbent will create receipt logs for payments relating to various escrow license and employment applications, investigation, and fingerprint card submissions. The incumbent will also assist with distribution and delivery of mail and provide telephone coverage.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two years of experience in typing and clerical work. [Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience on the basis of either (a) one year of general education being equivalent to three months of experience; or (b) one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of experience. Students who are enrolled in the last semester or its equivalent of course work, which upon completion will fulfill these requirements, will be admitted to the examination, but they must submit evidence of completion before they can be considered for appointment.]

Special Requirement

Ability to: Type at a speed of not less than 40 words per minute from ordinary manuscript or printed or typewritten material.
