Treasury, Accountant

Job Description Summary

Accountants and auditors prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, and provide solutions for businesses and individuals. They ensure that financial records are accurate, that financial and data risks are evaluated, and that taxes are paid properly. They also assess financial operations and work to help ensure that organizations run efficiently. Duties and responsibilities are performed at various levels within the defined title. Treasury is responsible for management of assets and liabilities for future grow. Manages cash and liquidity of investments. Oversees short and intermediate term investments. Ensures assets are allocated optimally in accordance with applicable regulations and policies. Provides banking and cash management services including depositing checks and cash, acceptance of payment cards and receipt of electronic funds.

Job Description

  • Performing various cash management and accounting functions for UA and UAF.
  • Preparing journal entries to record cash receipts and assists with recording investment activity.
  • Performing reconciliations of all new UAF gifts and pledges.
  • Assisting in life income-related duties for trusts and charitable gift annuities.
  • Assisting with calculating scholarship distributions.
  • Performing daily cash positioning.
  • Tracking and analyzing monthly bank fees.
  • Providing support for various types of informational requests related to endowments, investments, and Board of Trustee reports.
  • Working cross functionally with other departments (Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounting, Development, etc.) to provide support to troubleshoot treasury issues.
  • Providing support for audit related activities.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties/projects as assigned.

Additional Position Information:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.

Experience:

  • 1 year of treasury or accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Blackbaud software (Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge) preferred.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills required.
