Black Teacher Pipeline Fellowship

The Black Teacher Pipeline Scholarship is accepting applications for the 2023 – 2024 Academic Year


About the Program:


The Black Teacher Pipeline (BTP) Scholarship is a and career development program aimed at supporting aspiring teachers in their career pathway in education. Eligible candidates must be past or current participants in The Center for Black Educator Development’s Freedom Schools Literacy Academy or Liberation Academy. Fellows will receive a scholarship of up to $15,000 over three-years for Sophomores, up to $10,000 over two-years for Juniors, and a one-time award of up to $5,000 for seniors. Upon successfully obtaining a valid teaching certificate and completing four years of teaching, BTP Fellows can earn a stipend towards teacher-related professional development. BTP Fellows are required to participate in UNCF’s academic success coaching and The Center’s apprenticeship programming and career preparation workshops.

Scholarship Criteria:


  • Be affiliated with the Center for Black Educator Development
  • Be enrolled at a four-year college or university
  • Be pursuing a teaching degree/course of study
  • Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale
  • Have a demonstrated unmet, financial need (verified by your institution)
