Full Time English and Religious Studies Teacher

English and Religious Studies Teacher
The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time English and Religious Studies teacher for the 2021-22 school year. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and student-centered individual versed in current trends and emerging ideas in education. This candidate will be an experienced secondary teacher eager to inspire students in both English and Religious education; they are enthusiastic about faith-based girls’ education, have a familiarity with instructional technologies, and enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback. S/he should be deeply knowledgeable about the Catholic faith, passionate about teaching and learning and able to relate concepts and principles to students' everyday lives. S/he must be a team player with initiative, good judgment, and solid problem-solving and communication skills.  
The English and Religious Studies teacher:
  • Teaches 5 sections of Upper School English and Religion courses distributed across the two academic departments
  • Creates and delivers engaging curricula in conjunction with departmental scope and sequence
  • Establishes a culture of positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents; responds to messages and inquiries in a timely manner
  • Creates an inclusive classroom/work environment
  • Maintains a safe, orderly and supportive classroom
  • Thoughtfully supports and engages both in-person and virtual learners as needed

Qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, Theology or a related subject; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Middle or Upper School teaching
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective 
teaching
  • Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and deliver content both in person and online
  • High degree of cultural competency and commitment to girls’ education
