The San Francisco VA Office of Strategic Planning team is recruiting a leader to lead a new innovation program. The program is part of the national VA Innovator’s Network and VA Innovation Ecosystem, and it focuses on championing front-line and Bay Area health tech solutions that can be scaled nationally to improve care for Veterans. The Innovation Specialist reports to the Chief of Strategic Planning and is a member of a small team responsible for complex, high-visibility projects.
The Innovation Specialist is a non-supervisory, senior Health System Specialist (GS-12/13, 5-10 years relevant work experience) with responsibility for a portfolio which may include but is not limited to:
• Developing innovation-driven strategic plans in support of clinical and administrative services
• Identifying and pursuing internal and external partnerships and research opportunities that can bring novel technologies to Veterans
• Coaching clinical and administrative staff to bring innovation ideas to the frontline of healthcare, piloting ideas, and sharing through national dissemination channels
The Innovation Specialist position is a dynamic, impact-driven role for someone who is interested in serving Veterans and building the future of care in the VA. Telework will be optional for highly qualified candidates, with hiring preference shown to Bay Area residents or those willing to relocate to the Bay Area.
