Associate Director, Recruitment (Outreach)

Uncommon Schools is a non-profit network of 55 public charter schools serving more than 20,000 students in grades K-12 across six cities: Boston, Camden, New York City, Newark, Rochester, and Troy. Our mission is to start and manage outstanding urban public charter schools that close the achievement gap and prepare students from low-income backgrounds for success in college and beyond.
Job Description
The Associate Director of Recruitment (Outreach) is a position that executes balanced outreach strategies to source teachers and operations staff for 24, K-12 Schools in Brooklyn, New York. The Recruiter will work closely with the Senior Associate Director of Recruitment to develop and implement national and regional recruitment strategies that staff our schools with diverse, high-quality talent.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and articulate a detailed understanding of the Uncommon Schools mission
  • Build and execute specific and targeted strategies to attract quality teachers and operations staff
  • Collaborate with partners to plan and implement on-campus recruitment events and initiatives (career fairs, information sessions, panels, professional learning, etc.)
  • Strengthen regional and national relationships to increase awareness of Uncommon Schools’ brand
  • Use recruitment tools (applicant tracking systems, resume databases, LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Handshake, Mailchimp, and spreadsheets) to source high-quality talent
  • Write creative and compelling communications to promote career opportunities to target audiences and move partners to action (professors, faculty, AmeriCorps staff, mission-aligned organizations, etc.)
  • Assess data to adjust outreach strategies, support recommendations, and drive outreach decisions
  • Strengthen communication and relationships with school leaders and Selection recruiters to assess short and long-term talent needs and trends
  • Travel 30% to local and national events to engage with high-quality candidates
  • Performs other related duties as needed
